Dalen Hotel, one of Norway's most iconic and historic destinations, is seeking a skilled and passionate Sommelier to join our Food & Beverage team for the 2025 season. This is your chance to create unforgettable moments for our guests in an exceptional setting steeped in history and charm.

About Dalen Hotel 

Nestled in the heart of Telemark, Dalen Hotel is a fairytale destination dating back to 1894. Built in the distinctive Norwegian Dragon Style, the hotel features 49 individually designed rooms, a grand hall, historic lounges, a fine dining restaurant, and lush gardens. Our award-winning hotel is renowned for its timeless charm, offering a unique experience to every guest.

About the Role 

As sommelier you will work closely with the F&B Manager to ensure that our wine program is up to standard. You will be coordinating orders of wine, setting daily wine packages, adding new wines for the wine list, and doing inventories. We arrange daily wine tastings for our hotel guests that you will be responsible for. During dinner service you will be a crucial part of the restaurant team. Our wine list consists of over 500 international wines.

Restaurant Bandak is a gourmet establishment with high ambitions, where classic French cuisine is masterfully crafted using local products from Telemark and Norway. Our hotel breakfast is served with a combination of a small buffet and à la carte options. Guests can enjoy lunch and the picturesque afternoon tea in our elegant salons or on the terrace, which boasts stunning views of Lake Bandak. For dinner, we present meticulously curated set menus with wine pairing in the grand dining room.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in managing wine stock, budgeting, and purchasing.
  • Stock inventory.
  • Upselling and recommending wines that complement the menu and meet guests' preferences.
  • Working closely with chefs and other staff to develop wine pairings and menu offerings.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with varying tasks and hours.



Who You Are:

  • Understanding wine regions, grape varieties, winemaking techniques, and wine tasting.
  • Well trained and experienced from similar positions, fine dining is a must.
  • High competence in etiquette and classic fine dining and wine.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good collaboration skills and is solution-oriented

Preferred Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Sommelier in a high-end environment.
  • Knowledge of local and international cuisine and beverages.
  • English proficiency is essential.
