Dalen Hotel, one of Norway’s most iconic and historic destinations, is seeking a versatile hospitality professional to join our team in a unique dual role. As our Assistant Sommelier and Waiter, you will play a critical part in maintaining our high standards of service while taking full ownership of our wine program two days a week.

Built in the distinctive Norwegian Dragon Style, the hotel features 49 individually designed rooms, a grand hall, historic lounges, a fine dining restaurant, and lush gardens. Our award-winning hotel is renowned for its timeless charm, offering a unique experience to every guest.

About the Role 

This position is designed for a professional who thrives in a high-stakes, gourmet environment:

  • 2 Days as Assistant Sommelier: You will act as the lead wine authority on the floor while our Head Sommelier is off, managing pairings and cellar service for our signature menus.

  • 3 Days as Senior Waiter: You will work as part of our elite front-of-house team across all meal periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional service, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests.
  • Provide expert wine service, manage decanting, and advise guests on pairings during your Sommelier shifts.
  • Serve meals and beverages with precision and attentiveness.
  • Assist in hosting dining-related events to enhance the guest experience.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization in the dining areas.
  • Handle guest inquiries and special requests with professionalism and care.

Who You Are:

  • Organized and detail-oriented: You manage dining operations with precision.
  • Flexible and adaptable: You are comfortable working in a dynamic environment with varying tasks and hours.
  • Team player: You collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of WSET 2 or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a waiter in a high-end environment.
  • Knowledge of local and international cuisine and beverages.
  • English proficiency is essential.

Practical Information:

  • The position is seasonal or year-round, starting around mid- April / May 2026, and running at least until September - October 2026 with the option to extend till December of full-time employment.
